Geoffrey Gordon is a special alchemy of unique musical ability and vitality plus a warm, generous heart spirit. As an early explorer of multi-cultural music and percussion techniques Geoffrey plays many different drums, percussion, keyboard, wind and string instruments. Geoffrey moved to New York City in 1977 where he worked for over fifteen years in the fields of world music, jazz, theater, modern dance, music/dance education, television, movie soundtracks, and ethnomusicology. He worked from 1980-1989 in Harlem NY at CCNYís dance dept and as composer in residence at Sarah Lawrence College's dance deptartment from 1985-90. He appeared on Broadway in "Juan Darien" and "M. Butterfly" and played frequently in the early downtown music scene and at the original Knitting Factory.

Geoffrey became a student of North Indian classical music and tabla with Ustad Alla Rakha beginning in 1975 and later with Zakir Hussain and Maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. In 1992 Geoffrey relocated to Northern California where he resides today. Geoffrey is co-producer and composer of "Yoga Trance Dance" with Shiva Rea and Ben Leinbach on Sounds True Records. He plays on six recordings with Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra including "Mondo Rama" on Narada. He is on Robbie Robertson's Capital release "Contact from the Underworld of Redboy". Geoffrey co-produced Rita Coolidge and Walela's CD "Unbearable Love" and is the featured percussionist on their debut CD "Walela". He is also heard on recordings with Tulku, David Torn, Peter Kater, R. Carlos Nakai, Krishna Das, Ram Dass, Wally Brill, Stephen Kent, Coleman Barks and on movie soundtracks by Carter Burwell and Elliot Goldenthal.
