A native of the Bay Area, Deszon Claiborne began his musical career at the early age of ten. Virtually self taught in the beginning, Deszon went on to study intensively with world renowned drummers such as Ralph Humphrey, James Levi, Billy Cobham, Richard Peterson, Barry Jekowsky, and Kenneth Nash, an experience which provided Deszon with a strong foundation in jazz, funk, rock, R&B, classical, and world music.

Fusing inspiration with technique, Deszon sees music as a language, a medium which enables him to communicate stories and visions. Deszon's unique style pays no heed to formulas, crossing cultural, racial, and international boundaries. In addition, Deszon uses drums to create a bridge between the old and the new, the traditional and the contemporary.

Deszon has had the pleasure to perform or record with the following artists:

Kenneth Nash, Don Cherry, O.J. Ekemode, Peter Apfelbaum, Shakara, Ornette Coleman, Bo Didley, Phyllis Hyman, Jay McShanne, Paul Hanson, Ricky Encarnacion, Giovani Hidalgo, Michael White, Andy Narrelll, Alex Acuna, Adofo Rivero, Ray Obiedo, Alphabet Soup, Charles Brown, Dave Ellis, John Handy, Chuck Rainey, Rodney Franklin, Bob Weir, Taj Mahal, Henry Butler, Linda Tillery, Ruth Brown, Bonnie Rait, and Charlie Musselwhite.
