Producer, engineer, drummer, and composer Ben Leinbach stays involved in a great variety of projects. He has been drumming for 23 years in various pop, rock, jazz, blues, and latin-jazz bands. Some of his former bands shared bills with Green Day, Primus, and John Scofield. He has performed with sax greats Chico Freeman and Dave Ellis, and has jammed with Joshua Redman.

Ben has been freelance engineering for over ten years at several San Francisco/Bay Area recording studios, working with a vast array of artists including rapper E-40, percussion greats Pops and Pete Escovedo, film composer Lawrence Rosenthal, world music artist Jai Uttal, and steel pan maestro Andy Narell.

Ben’s production and composition endeavors also span many styles. He produces “beats” for rap artists, writes songs with R&B and pop singers, and records and produces singer-songwriters. He co-produced and co-wrote the music for two yoga work out CD’s, “Yoga Trance Dance” and “Yoga Chant”, both featuring acclaimed instructor Shiva Rea.

Ben engineered the recordings on Jai Uttal’s “Beggars and Saints” and “Shiva Station”. He edited and mixed Jai’s live Kirtan album “Nectar”. And on Jai’s latest release, “Mondo Rama”, Ben functioned as co-producer and engineer, as well as co-writer on several of the cuts.
